Because of the immense devastation in southwest Haiti, as per the latest report more than 1,000 people might have died, and some 500,000 people have been displaced and need urgent aid since the Hurricane Matthew. Almost all buildings, family homes, schools and churches have been totally damaged. The disaster has smashed concrete walls, flattened palm trees, flooded all agriculture, and has destroyed and tore roofs off 100,000 of family homes. Haiti is facing its worst humanitarian crisis since the devastating earthquake six years ago.
The risk of disease is high, possible surge in cholera cases from the widespread flooding have been reported in various regions. The Haitian people are thankful for the international aids already arrived but more are needed for an extensive recovery effort in Haiti.
GPC is ready to accept donations to help families, pregnant females, children in need. We have launched an emergency response in Haiti, with Medshare and other NGOs we will ship containers of medical supplies and essential home accessories to the hardest-hit areas. The main goal over the next few weeks is to raise funds to build permanent homes for Haitian people in hopes of minimizing homeless families and contributing to the sustainable livelihood and build of their economy. With our dual efforts, in solitude, we can drastically affect the Haitian community for the better.
